So, what’s new?

Hello everyone. It’s been a little while since we’ve caught up. I hope you’re all well. I thought I’d take a few minutes this morning to give you an update about my writing.

My Novel, A Picture of the Heart is around 200+ pages and 50k words. I’m running into several issues with publishing.

  1. The word count is too short for the publisher I’d like to pitch the novel too.
  2. I’m particular about who publishes the book. I expect the company who represents my work to honor God by being careful with what material they publish.
  3. Many publishers require an agent to represent your work. I sent out quite a few query letters, but I haven’t found one yet.

While, I continue to seek representation I’m working on other projects. Recently, I finished a short story titled, Fair Game. It does contain some thriller elements for those of you who like that sort of thing. Here’s an excerpt:

“Wake up Mama. It’s almost time,” a voice said into her semi-conscious state. Two strong hands gripped her shoulders and shook her violently. Her eyes opened to find herself face to face with Teddy. Jerking back, she nearly toppled over in the rickety wooden chair. Teddy steadied her. She strained against the restraints which bound her hands to the thin wooden supports between the chair’s legs on both sides.

I’m also in the process of editing my previous short-story titled, The Seven Clocks. I’ve added more content for the reader to better under the main character Danny’s imagination. Once, it’s finished I’ll repost it on this site and share a link via facebook.

Earlier this year I had started working on the prequel and sequel for my main Novel, A Picture of the Heart; however, at some point, I lost focus and started a new work which I’m very excited about, but…my lovely wife encouraged me to get back into the saddle and finish the Picture of the Heart trilogy.

I started working on the prequel again about two weeks ago and was pleasantly surprised to find that I had previously completed 20k words and 80 pages. The reason I had lost focus was due to a scene I was wrestling with which was a pivotal part of the story, yet I couldn’t seem to figure out how to make it work. That was until a few days ago when it all seemed to come together. I’d be stealing glory, if I didn’t say, it all “seemed” to come together after I prayed and asked my Heavenly Father for help.

I haven’t done much with my YouTube Author page in a few months, but I have some ideas for content. I plan on doing my own readings of my two completed short stories. Once complete–hopefully next month–you can find the content here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCbCn2JM8vwDJk6XDoVlQTmw
